Natasha Richardson in critical condition after skiing accident

The actress NATASHA RICHARDSON has been transferred to a Montreal hospital with serious head injuries after a skiing accident on Monday, several news outlets reported.

CTV, a Canadian television network, said on Tuesday that Liam Neeson, NATASHA RICHARDSON’s husband, had left a film set in Toronto to be with his wife in Montreal on Monday.

According to IrishCentral.com, a Web site that first reported the accident on Monday, NATASHA RICHARDSON was injured while skiing in the Laurentian hills north of Montreal. NATASHA RICHARDSON was transferred from a hospital in that region to the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal late in the afternoon.

Several reports said she was in critical condition.

A spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec, the provincial police force, said that it had no information about NATASHA RICHARDSON's accident. The hospital did not immediately respond to requests for comment, although privacy laws limit the ability of hospitals in the province to comment on patients.

The Canadian Press reported that Kika Markham, the wife of NATASHA RICHARDSON's uncle, Corin Redgrave, had confirmed the skiing incident.

“We know that she has had an accident but we really do not know any more details,” she told the news agency. “We are very concerned.”

NATASHA RICHARDSON won a Tony in 1998 for her performance in “Cabaret.” Her film performances include role in “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “The Parent Trap.”

She is the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and Tony Richardson, the film director and producer.

Mr. Neeson married NATASHA RICHARDSON in 1994 and the couple have two children.

"We do not have any details at this time but we hope for the best and our thoughts and prayers are with Natasha and Liam and their family."
