Stop the Presses - MICROSOFT has a Problem with the ZUNE CRASHING

ZUNES LOCK UP REQUESTING ZUNE REBOOT
Around 2AM this morning night, every MICROSOFT ZUNE on the Planet seems to have frozen. Early reports from MICROSOFT indicate they have no idea what caused the popular Christmas gift ZUNE TO CRASH.

The ZUNE CRASH centers around the BOOT-UP sequence where, as you can see in the picture to the left, states "TO RECOVER FROM THE ERROR ZUNE MUST CLEAR ALL CONTENT". This development is quite a pain to those who had just figured out HOW TO LOAD SONGS ONTO THEIR ZUNE. (This was a popular ZUNE query just after Christmas.)

Today ZUNE searches are much different as frustrated ZUNE owners struggle to find the solution to their PROBLEM ridden ZUNE. Today searches are around the terms ZUNE CRASH, ZUNE SUPPORT, ZUNE, ZUNE RESET, ZUNE STUCK ON LOADING SCREEN, ZUNE HARD RESET, ZUNE VIRUS, ZUNE HELP, ZUNE SUPPORT and many many more.

Even Websites in Europe are commenting on the ZUNE PROBLEM. Here is a quote from a German Tech site:

Another North American Tech site has the following to say on the MICROSOFT ZUNE CRASH:

Microsoft has yet to comment on what is causing massive numbers of its 30GB Zune to fail virtually simultaneously
There have been some mysteries in the technology world over 2008. It seems that the last day of the year will end on another mysterious note for technology fans and Microsoft Zune owners.

According to Gizmodo there are massive amounts of reports of 30GB Microsoft Zune players failing around the country. The proximity to the New Year has led the phenomenon to be dubbed the Y2K9 bug, though the failures actually having anything to do with a calendar issue is slim. Mostly the slim chances have to do with the fact that the calendar won’t change until midnight tonight on the players and the first reports of failures starting coming in at about 2 a.m. this morning.

The failure goes something like this according to reports. At about 2 a.m. 30GB Zune's that were reset or were tuned off failed when they were started back up. The failure is described by those affected as a freeze at the load screen.

According to reports this isn’t a few 30GB Zune's that have failed, the vast majority of the devices have the same exact failure symptoms and have been reports by hundreds of owners according to Gizmodo. At this point little is known as to what is causing the mass failures of the devices. Once Microsoft is up and running for the workday, perhaps we will get more information on the issue.

FLORIDA BIKINI MATE TIFFANY SHEPHERD ARRESTED SUNDAY

TIFFANY SHEPHERD MUGSHOT

TIFFANY SHEPHERD , the bikini-wearing former teacher who drew fame for her weekend stints as a scantily clad shipmate, was bounced off to jail Sunday on a charge of threatening her ex-boyfriend's new flame.

Police say they arrested TIFFANY SHEPHERD, 30, after she left several text and voice mail messages last month on the cellphone of the 22-year-old woman, challenging her to a fight. The woman, who said she is dating and living with the father of one of TIFFANY SHEPHERD's children, told a Fort Pierce police officer that she tried to ignore the messages, but called police because the incessant calls were interrupting her normal activities. A warrant later was issued for TIFFANY SHEPHERD's arrest and she was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail Sunday on a charge of making harassing telephone calls.

TIFFANY SHEPHERD became a media sensation this year when she claimed she was fired from her job as a teacher at Port St. Lucie High School because of her after-school job as a bikini mate aboard Smokin' Em Charters fishing tours. The St. Lucie County School District fired back that TIFFANY SHEPHERD missed more than 30 days of school this year and received two written reprimands for the absences. But within days, TIFFANY SHEPHERD was an Internet sensation, with photos of her sporting a bikini popping up on sites.

TIFFANY SHEPHERD was invited to appear on several television shows and said she received an offer to pose nude in Playboy magazine. For more information and pictures of TIFFANY SHEPHERD, check out the TIFFANY SHEPHERD BLOG.

BRISTOL PALIN has BABY BOY named TRIPP

Bristol Palin gave birth to her much-anticipated baby son on Saturday, People.com reported this evening.

The first grandchild of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, weighing in at seven pounds, four ounces.

When it was announced shortly after Sarah Palin was named John McCain's running mate that her teenage daughter was expecting, it triggered national debates on teen pregnancy and marriage, abstinence education, the VP vetting process, the privacy of political families and, well, just about everything.

Bristol Palin is 18, as is her boyfriend of three years, Levi Johnston, a former high school hockey player. Both have dropped out of high school -- she to complete her diploma through correspondence courses, People reports, and he to become an apprentice electrician, he told the AP this fall. They have said they plan to marry in 2009. (Johnston's mother Sherry was arrested earlier this month on felony drug charges for allegedly selling OxyContin.)

Colleen Jones, who is the governor's aunt, confirmed the news of the baby's birth to People. "We think it's wonderful," she said. "The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited."

JENA SIX Member MYCHAL BELL Shoots himself

A JENA SIX teenager whose arrest in a racially charged assault case drew thousands of protesters to his rural Louisiana hometown was in a hospital early Tuesday after a shooting that his lawyer said was accidental. MYCHAL BELL was cleaning a gun when it accidentally discharged, shooting him in the shoulder, his attorney, Carol Powell-Lexing, told CNN. He had surgery Monday night at a hospital in Monroe, Louisiana, and has not yet been able to talk, she said.

Monroe police Sgt. Cassandra Wooten said the wound was not life-threatening.

MYCHAL BELL was one of JENA 6 six black teenagers who faced adult felony charges in the 2006 beating of a white classmate in the town of Jena. The beating followed months of racial tensions in the community of 3,000 after three white students hung a noose in a tree whose shade was traditionally off limits to blacks at Jena High School, hence the name JENA SIX.

The case of the JENA 6 drew national attention from civil rights groups who argued that the charges were excessive. An estimated 15,000-plus people turned out for a September 2007 rally in the Louisiana town on the black youths' behalf. MYCHAL BELL eventually pleaded guilty to battery in a juvenile court, served several months in a youth home and later moved to Monroe, about 70 miles north of Jena. MYCHAL BELL was released in September 2007 and later agreed to a plea deal in the beating of a classmate.

About two years ago, the JENA 6 were at the center of one of the biggest racially charged controversies in a long time. The six black students at Jena High School in Louisiana severely beat up a white student, but after three white students hung a racially insensitive noose up in front of the school. The subsequent prosecution of the JENA 6 for their beating drew ire from the black community, with the racially charged atmosphere making national headlines. But one JENA 6 member is back in the headlines for even more ugly reasons, after shooting himself by accident.

MYCHAL BELL, a JENA 6 member who moved from Jena after the controversy ended, went to the hospital earlier this week after accidentally shooting himself with a gun he was cleaning. MYCHAL BELL had surgery for the wound on Monday, and has not been able to talk since.

MYCHAL BELL did not shoot himself on purpose, although the heated circumstances of the JENA SIX case may have made some speculate that he did, at least before the news reported otherwise. MYCHAL BELL and five other black Jena students were championed by the black community for several months, in a case that reignited old racial wounds.

Activists like Al Sharpton argued for the JENA SIX and Bell to face lesser charges or be released altogether, since the noose supposedly drove them to beat up a white student to such an extent. Others argued for charges against the Jena 6 and Bell that were called excessive and racially biased by many.

Ultimately, MYCHAL BELL himself went to a juvenile court and confessed to second-degree battery, serving several months at a youth home. When Bell was released and the JENA SIX case finally faded from national attention, Bell left Jena and moved 70 miles north to Monroe, Louisiana. The now 18-year-old Bell has been living with a foster family.

MYCHAL BELL had already faced an extra bit of attention last week, after he was arrested for shoplifting. According to Monroe police sgt. Cassandra Wooten, Bell felt upset over the extra media coverage he got for this arrest, due to his JENA SIX celebrity. This may help further the notion that Bell really tried to shoot himself.

Jena Six was the name given to a group of six black teenagers charged with the beating of Justin Barker, a white student at Jena High School in Jena, Louisiana, United States, on December 4, 2006. Barker was injured, but was released from the emergency room the same day. He has since brought suit against members of the Jena Six, their parents, the school district, and others allegedly involved.

A number of events took place in and around Jena in the months preceding the Barker assault, which have been linked to an alleged escalation of racial tensions. These events included the hanging of nooses from a tree in the high school courtyard, two violent confrontations between white and black youths, and the destruction by fire of the main building of Jena High School. The incidents were often linked in the extensive news coverage regarding the Jena Six.

Six individuals (Robert Bailey, then aged 17; Mychal Bell, then 16; Carwin Jones, then 18; Bryant Purvis, then 17; Jesse Ray Beard, then 14; and Theo Shaw, then 17) were arrested in the assault on Barker. One, Mychal Bell, was initially convicted as an adult of aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated battery. His convictions were overturned on the ground that he should have been tried as a juvenile. Prior to a retrial in juvenile court, he pled guilty to a reduced charge of simple battery. The other five defendants still await trial.

The Jena Six case sparked protests by those viewing the arrests and subsequent charges, initially attempted second-degree murder (though later reduced), as excessive and racially discriminatory. The protesters asserted that white Jena youths involved in other incidents were treated leniently. On September 20, 2007, between 15,000 and 20,000 protesters marched on Jena in what was described as the "largest civil rights demonstration in years". Related protests were held in other US cities on the same day. Subsequent reactions include songs alluding to the Jena Six, a considerable number of editorials and opinion columns, and Congressional hearings.

I guess the Video was removed. Here is another version. If anyone has the AVI, please let me know and I will post it on here.

For those wanting the LYRICS TO BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO, Here they are

BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO lyrics]
Sung to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon

SHANKLIN (Sharpton impersonator): BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

‘Cause he’s not authentic like me.

Yeah, the guy from the L.A. paper

Said he makes guilty whites feel good

They’ll vote for him, and not for me

‘Cause he’s not from the hood.

See, real black men, like Snoop Dog,

Or me, or Farrakhan

Have talked the talk, and walked the walk.

Not come in late and won!

[refrain] Oh, BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO, lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.

Oh, BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO, lives in D.C.

The L.A. Times, they called him that

‘Cause he’s black, but not authentically.

Some say Barack’s “articulate”

And bright and new and “clean.”

The media sure loves this guy,

A white interloper’s dream!

But, when you vote for president,

Watch out, and don’t be fooled!

Don’t vote the Magic Negro in –

‘Cause — ’cause I won’t have nothing after all these years of sacrifice

And I won’t get justice. This is about justice. This isn’t about me, it’s about justice.

It’s about buffet. I don’t have no buffet and there won’t be any church contributions,

And there’ll be no cash in the collection plate.

There ain’t gonna be no cash money, no walkin’ around money, no phoning money.

Now, Barack going to come in here and –

KHLOE KARDASHIAN gets NAKED FOR PETA

Fans of E! Television's hit reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians know that Khloe Kardashian is no shrinking violet. Probably the most outspoken of the Kardashian clan, Khloe tells it like it is, so we were thrilled when we got the chance to show her exactly what the fur industry does to animals.

The end result is PETA's gorgeous new "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" ad starring none other than Khloe herself. Khloe and her family have taken not only Hollywood but the entire country by storm. Everyone wants to know what she and her famous siblings are up to, who their dates are, and what they are wearing. In Khloe's case, rest assured that it won't be fur. The self-proclaimed animal lover admitted that she had no idea what happened to animals killed for their fur until a few of our videos opened up her eyes. "The videos are so graphic but they are so necessary for people to watch. I'm so grateful that I did get the opportunity to see them. I had no idea that's how these animals are treated." Khloe says she agreed to pose naked because she wants people to know that she is serious about the fur campaign and that she wanted to do her part.

Horrific details of the SANTA CLAUS SHOOTING and FIRE MASSACRE - now known as the SANTA SLAYINGS

SANTA SHOOTER to be user at local Church
As he had in years past, Bruce Jeffrey Pardo volunteered to serve as an usher at his church's midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.

Pardo, however, was miles away from the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church as the religious service got underway. He had driven a rental car from his home in Montrose to the Covina home of his ex-wife's parents. Shortly before 11:30 p.m., dressed as Santa Claus, he approached the front door with a large, wrapped package.

SANTA SHOOTER Shoots 8 year old girl in the face over an apparent dispute iwth his ex wife

Inside the two-story home at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, his ex-wife, her parents and about two dozen others were enjoying their annual holiday party. An 8-year-old girl ran to answer his knock. When the door swung open, Pardo, 45, shot her in the face with a semiautomatic handgun, stepped into the house and opened fire on the revelers. Amid the chaos, he doused the house with a flammable liquid contained in the package -- a pressurized fuel tank, about 2 1/2 feet tall.

Partygoers fled in panic as the house on Knollcrest Drive went up in flames. They ran to neighbors' homes and frantically called 911. A young woman, according to a neighbor, leaped out of a second-floor window, breaking her ankle. The 8-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the back survived and were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said. Eight bodies remained in the ruins of the house, coroner officials later said.

It was thought to be the worst single killing spree in the county this year. Overall, homicides have remained at relatively low levels compared to previous years.

Investigators Search for clues in the Bloody SANTA SLAYINGS

The investigation, which began quickly and continued into Christmas Day, led to two other Southern California homes: Pardo's and his brother's, where Pardo was found dead. It revealed a divorce, the flammable device like the one Pardo took into the Covina home -- police said they'd never seen anything like it -- and incredulous reactions from people who knew Pardo as a reliable church usher and good, but quiet, neighbor. By late Thursday night, authorities weren't even close to identifying all the victims, although his former wife and her parents are thought to have been killed.

In Covina, police kept firefighters at bay as flames engulfed the house, believing the gunman might still be in the area. About 80 firefighters battled the blaze for an hour and a half before extinguishing it, said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Mike Brown. The second floor of the house fell to the ground. Palm trees swayed eerily in the smoke.

SANTA SHOOTER FOUND SHOT IN THE HEAD

Pardo had left the scene quickly, driving to his brother's house about 40 miles away in Sylmar. Shortly before 3:30 a.m., the brother summoned Los Angeles police, saying he had come home to find Pardo dead with a gunshot wound to the head. When arriving officers ran Pardo's name through a law-enforcement database, they were alerted that he was wanted by Covina police.

By 9 a.m., a pair of Covina detectives had arrived at Pardo's tan stucco house in Montrose and cordoned it off with tape. A wreath was hung on the front door and candy canes adorned the fence.

An SUV and a military-style Hummer were parked in the driveway.

In midafternoon, authorities approached the house with guns drawn, shouting, "We're police! We have a search warrant!" When no one responded, they used a battering ram to get in. More than two hours later, officers carried away four shotguns, a handgun, wrapping paper and a fuel tank like the one Pardo used in the attack.

SANTA SLAYER Sets house on fire after SHOOTING RAMPAGE

A label on the red tank read, "WeFuelFun.com," the website of a company that specializes in fueling devices for all-terrain vehicles. Buchanan, a 30-year police veteran, said the tank Pardo used in the attack was "nothing that we or the arson team had ever seen."

Recently, Pardo had been living in the Montrose home alone, said Det. Antonio Zavala. Court records show that his wife divorced him last September. He "was apparently going through a bad time in his marriage," Covina Police Lt. Pat Buchanan said.

Neighbors said that Pardo had lived in the house with his wife, Sylvia, 43, and her three children for a few years, until she and the children moved out last spring.

The family was often seen walking their dog in the neighborhood.

Pardo, several neighbors said, was a quiet, unassuming man who enjoyed tending his garden and regularly ushered at the evening Sunday Mass at Holy Redeemer.

"Bruce?" said an incredulous Jan Detanna, the head usher at the church, when told about the attack by a reporter on the phone. "I'm just -- this is shocking. He was the nicest guy you could imagine. Always a pleasure to talk to, always a big smile."

Bong Garcia, Pardo's next-door neighbor, said he last saw Pardo between 9 and 10 p.m. Christmas Eve. Pardo, who was dressed in regular clothes, said he was on his way to a party.

Pardo's former wife and her parents, Joseph Ortega, 80, and Alicia Ortega, 70, are believed to be among the dead. Authorities said Thursday afternoon that the bodies found in the house were so badly burned that dental records would be needed to identify them.

The Ortegas lived in a bucolic neighborhood -- their street lined with large homes with swimming pools, valued upward of half a million dollars.

Tom Minter, 78, who lives a few doors down from the Ortegas' house, was washing dishes when he heard a loud bang. Soon after, police SWAT officers rushed a man and two women who had been at the party into his home, sat them down in the hallway and turned off all lights in the house, Minter said. Both women were crying and the man was talking into his cellphone, saying 'They're all dead, he shot them all,' " Minter recalled.

Neighbours and Family hope for more information on the VICTIMS OF THE SANTA SLAYINGS

Gazing at the scene of destruction on Christmas morning, Frank Castillo, 46, stood at the yellow police tape barrier trying unsuccessfully to obtain information about relatives he said had been at the party.

"I want to make sure [they] are OK," he said, choking back tears.

The bizarre case continued to unfold into the night. Bright lights brought in by police illuminated the crime scene in Covina. In searching the rental car in Sylmar, the L.A. County sheriff's bomb squad found a suspicious object.

As they attempted to render the object safe, the car erupted in flames, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. James Bender. Later, police evacuated houses close to Pardo's in Montrose, concerned that he might have left behind bombs.

Israeli Bombers Target several Gaza including a school full of Children in Day after Christmas AIR STRIKES on the GAZA STRIP

Israel Attacked what they called "Hamas targets" in Gaza on Saturday with a wave of air strikes that killed at least 160 people in the besieged enclave in retaliation for ongoing rocket fire, officials said. Another 300 people were wounded, some 120 of them seriously in the attacks. And one Israeli died as Hamas swiftly responded to the air raids by firing several dozen rockets on the Jewish state.

The European Union and its current president, France, urged both sides to stop to the violence , as did Britain and Russia. The United States said Israel should avoid civilian casualties, while the Arab League and a number of Middle Eastern states singled out Israel for blame. Israel warned that the attacks, in which army radio said around 60 aircraft bombed the impoverished, overcrowded territory of 1.5 million people, was "just the beginning."

Hamas told Israelis living near Gaza to "prepare the funeral shrouds." In Gaza, thick clouds of smoke billowed into the sky, with mangled, bloodied and often charred corpses littering the pavement around Hamas security compounds, television images showed. It was not immediately clear how many of those killed were civilians, with medics saying that the majority of the victims appeared to be members of Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since seizing power there last year.

Dr Moawiya Hassanein, the head of Gaza emergency services, at least 160 people were killed and 300 wounded, and that rescuers were still searching for bodies in the rubble. The attacks came after days of escalating violence, with militants firing rockets and Israel vowing a fiery response. Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas told AFP from Saudi Arabia that he was in "urgent contact" with numerous countries to stop "the cowardly aggressions and massacres in the Gaza Strip."

Egypt, which brokered a six-month Israeli-Hamas truce that expired on December 19, slammed the bombardment. "Egypt condemns the Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip and blames Israel, as an occupying force, for the victims and the wounded," President Hosni Mubarak said in a statement. He ordered the Rafah terminal -- the only one that bypasses Israel -- to be opened to allow wounded Palestinians to be evacuated for treatment in Egyptian hospitals. Dozens of wounded had passed through by mid-afternoon, Egyptian state news agency Mena reported, with public television saying 200 were expected in the coming hours.

Hamas called on its fighters to "avenge with force against the enemy" while its militants warned Israelis living near the border to "prepare the funeral shrouds," vowing that the Islamists' response "was on its way." One rocket hit the southern Israeli town of Netivot, killing a man and wounding four other people, according to the Magen David Adom, Israel's equivalent of the Red Cross. Israel, which put communities around Gaza on a state of alert, warned that the deadly strikes were "just the beginning," said an army spokesman. "The operation will continue and will be expanded as necessary in accordance with the assessments of the army and the defence establishment," Defence Minister Ehud Barak's office said.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said the Israeli onslaught was launched "following... the incessant attacks on Israeli citizens in the south of the country ..." in order to "bring the rocket fire to an end." The bombing hit and destroyed Hamas security structures across Gaza, the group said. A training base of the Hamas military wing, the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, was pounded in the north.

Hamas said three of its senior officials -- the Gaza police chief, the police commander for central Gaza and the head of the group's bodyguard unit -- were killed in the blitz. The mid-morning air raids followed days of rocket and mortar attacks on Israel by militants inside Gaza, which the Jewish state had warned would be met with harsh reprisals.

Violence in and around the Gaza Strip has flared since the ceasefire ended. It escalated dramatically on Wednesday, when militants fired more than 80 rockets and mortar rounds in response to air strikes on Gaza. Israel had responded to earlier attacks by tightening the blockade it imposed after Hamas seized Gaza from forces loyal to Abbas. However, dozens of truckloads of supplies were delivered to Gaza on Friday after Israel decided to temporarily allow in humanitarian aid.

Hamas is sworn to destruction of the Jewish state and has warned that it would retaliate to a major Israeli operation in Gaza by resuming suicide bombings inside Israel. The last such attack claimed by Hamas was in January 2005.

Hamas said all of its security installations were hit and responded with several medium-range Grad rockets at Israel, reaching deeper than in the past. One Israeli was killed and at least four people were wounded.

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said "the operation will last as long as necessary," but it was not clear if it would be coupled with a ground offensive. Asked if Hamas political leaders might be targeted next, military spokeswoman Maj. Avital Leibovich said, "Any Hamas target is a target."

The strikes caused widespread panic and confusion in Gaza, as black clouds of smoke rose above the territory, ruled by Hamas for the past 18 months. Some of the Israeli missiles struck in densely populated areas as children were leaving school, and women rushed into the streets frantically looking for their children.

In Gaza City's main security compound, bodies of more than a dozen uniformed security officers lay on the ground. One survivor raised his index finger in a show of Muslim faith, uttering a prayer. The Gaza police chief was among those killed. One man, his face bloodied, sat dazed on the ground as a fire raged nearby.

It wasn't immediately clear how many civilian casualties there were.

Said Masri sat in the middle of a Gaza City street, close to a security compound, alternately slapping his face and covering his head with dust from the bombed-out building.

"My son is gone, my son is gone," wailed Masri, 57. The shopkeeper said he sent his 9-year-old son out to purchase cigarettes minutes before the airstrikes began and now could not find him. "May I burn like the cigarettes, may Israel burn," Masri moaned.

Defiant Hamas leaders threatened revenge, including suicide attacks. Hamas "will continue the resistance until the last drop of blood," vowed spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.

Israel told its civilians near Gaza to take cover as militants began retaliating with rockets, and in the West Bank, moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for restraint. Egypt summoned the Israeli ambassador to express condemnation and opened its border with Gaza to allow ambulances to drive out some of the wounded.

Protests erupted in the Abbas-ruled West Bank and across the Arab world.

Several hundred angry Jordanians poured protested outside a U.N. complex in the capital Amman. "Hamas, go ahead. You are the cannon, we are the bullets," they cried, some waving the signature green Hamas banners.

In Beirut, dozens of youths hit the streets and set fire to tires. In Syria's al-Yarmouk camp, outside Damascus, dozens of Palestinians protested the attack as well, vowing to continue fighting Israel.

Israeli leaders approved military action against Gaza earlier in the week.

Past limited ground incursions and air strikes have not halted rocket barrages from Gaza.

But with 200 mortars and rockets raining down on Israel since the truce expired a week ago, and 3,000 since the beginning of the year, according to the military's count, pressure had been mounting in Israel for the military to crush the gunmen.

Earlier this month, Israeli security officials told the government that militants possess rockets with ranges capable of reaching farther from Gaza than ever before, including the cities of Beersheba and Ashdod.

Gaza militants fired several rockets Saturday, including one that struck a new target, the town of Kiryat Gat. A missile hit on the town of Netivot killed an Israeli man and wounded four people, rescue services said. In Ashkelon, TV cameras showed people huddle against a wall as a rocket alert sounded.

Barak, the Israeli defense minister, said that the coming period "won't be easy and won't be short for the communities in the south (of Israel).

Israel declared a state of emergency in Israeli communities within a 12-mile (20-kilometer) range of Gaza, putting the area on a war footing.

The first round of air strikes came just before noon, and several more waves followed.

Hospitals crowded with people, civilians rushing in wounded people in cars, vans and ambulances. "We are treating people on the floor, in the corridors. We have no more space. We don't know who is here and what the priority is to treat," said a doctor at Shifa Hospital, Gaza's main treatment center. He hung up the phone before identifying himself.

Dr. Moawiya Hassanain, a Gaza Health Ministry official, said at least 145 people were killed and more than 300 wounded.

Frantic civilians drove wounded people to hospitals in their cars.

In the West Bank, Hamas' rival, Abbas, said in a statement that he "condemns this aggression" and called for restraint, according to an aide, Nabil Abu Rdeneh. Abbas, who has ruled only the West Bank since the Islamic Hamas seized power in Gaza in June 2007, was in contact with Arab leaders, and his West Bank Cabinet convened an emergency session.

Israel has targeted Gaza in the past, but the number of simultaneous attacks was unprecedented.

Israel left Gaza in 2005 after a 38-year occupation, but the withdrawal did not lead to better relations with Palestinians in the territory as Israeli officials had hoped.

Instead, the evacuation was followed by a sharp rise in militant attacks on Israeli border communities that on several occasions provoked harsh Israeli military reprisals.

The last, in late February and early March, spurred both sides to agree to a truce that was to have lasted six months but began unraveling in early November. In recent days, Israeli leaders had been voicing strong threats to launch a major offensive.

Here is a point of view from another blogger which I found in my searches. It basically points out the often ignored view of the "other side" It seems the mainstream media often ignores the historical facts behind the whole conflict in the Middle East. The whole post WW2 taking of British Palistine, kicking the Palistinians out in favour of a "new home" for the Jewish.

Recent treaties have given parts of Gaza back to the Palistinians, however Israel refuses to agree and they still continue to find reasons to attack outside surrounding countries.

Here is the story: (Sourece http://www.halturnershow.blogspot.com)

One day after Christmas, the mighty Israeli Air Force used advanced F-16 fighter jets and Apache attack helicopters to attack the Gaza Strip, whose residents have only rocks to throw in self defense. At last count, the Israeli attacks have killed 155 and wounded over 300.

Israel claims that they have suffered "rocket attacks" from Gaza, even though the "rockets" are barely more than bottle rockets that American children shoot off during Fourth of July celebrations.

The West Bank and Gaza Strip are two land areas that Israel unlawfully occupies militarily, in violation of several United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The people in the West Bank and Gaza Strip have been almost starved to death over the past year after Israel closed all border crossings, forbidding Palestinians to work or buy food inside Israel and forbidding trucks, trains or even boats to enter those two areas to bring food supplies.

Air strikes with American-made military aircraft are really the only thing Israel can successfully use when it decides to fight someone else. Whenever they go farther than air strikes, it requires them to use ground troops, which usually doesn't work out well.

The last time Israel sent its ground troops somewhere, most recently into Lebanon, the world watched in laughter as Israeli troops were totally defeated and retreated in fear.

At least with air strikes, Israel doesn't have to worry about the victims fighting back. The people in The West Bank and the Gaza Strip can't throw rocks that high.

--------------- COMMENTARY:

As I write this report, the so-called "state" of Israel remains in violation of more UN Security Council Resolutions than any other country on earth!

The reason no one ever does anything about it is because every time an attempt is made to enforce the Security Council resolutions, the Zionist Occupied Government (ZOG) of the United States VETOES the effort.

The rest of the world would do well to realize that the United States is on the balls of its ass right now, overstretched militarily and bankrupt financially. This being the case, the rest of the world could, right now, successfully warn the US that if they veto another enforcement effort against Israel, the world would stop lending money to the US government and stop accepting US dollars as currency. This would almost immediately collapse the US government and the entire US economy. I urge the nations of the world to do exactly that!

I suspect the US government would roll over very quickly to permit several enforcement actions by the UN rather than face more financial trouble.

This is a major window of opportunity for the world to cripple the only protection that Israel has and, once and for all, reign-in the terrorist state of Israel. Please do it now.

WHERE IS GAZA?

* The Gaza Strip is a sliver of towns, villages and farmland at the southeast end of the Mediterranean, 45 km (25 miles) long and at most 10 km (6 miles) wide. It is wedged between Israel to the north and east, and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula to the south.

HISTORY OF THE TERRITORY:

* Gaza city has been continuously inhabited for more than 3,000 years and was a crossroads of ancient civilizations. It is believed to be the burial place of the Prophet Mohammad's great grandfather.

* Four centuries of rule by the Ottoman Empire were briefly interrupted by Napoleonic France and also saw growing Egyptian influence until Britain took control of Gaza and the rest of Palestine in World War One. Egypt took control of the Strip during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war.

* The GAZA Strip's population tripled in 1948-49 when it absorbed about a quarter of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees displaced from areas that are now part of Israel.

* Israel captured the Gaza Strip from Egypt in the 1967 war.

* Israel pulled Jewish settlers and soldiers out of the territory in September 2005.

* Israel conducted large-scale ground operations in June 2006 after militants tunneled across the Gaza border and captured One Israeli soldier.

* A year later, Hamas Islamists took control of the Gaza Strip after routing President Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah forces.

* Israel tightened the closure of its borders with Gaza, curbing fuel supplies and limiting movement of people. International organizations have condemned the blockade, which Israel says is meant to curb rockets fired by militants.

* Under an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire in June, Hamas agreed to halt rocket fire in return for Israel easing the blockade. Hamas declared the end of the truce on December 18.

WHO LIVES IN GAZA?

* About 1.5 million Palestinians live in Gaza, more than half of them refugees from past wars with Israel. Gaza has one of the highest population densities and demographic growth rates in the world.

* Most Gazans live on less than $2 a day and up to 80 percent are dependent on food aid, according to aid groups.

CHRISTMAS EVE SANTA CLAUS MASSACRE IN COVINA CALIFORNIA

Bruce Jeffrey Pardo is seen in an undated photo provided Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, by the Covina, Calif. Police Department. Covina Police have identified the 45-year-old Prado as a "person of interest" after a man in a Santa suit opened fire at a Christmas Eve party in a suburban Los Angeles home that subsequently caught fire, leaving three people dead.

SANTA CLAUS CHRISTMAS EVE MASSACRE

In Covina, Calif., police say a man Bruce Jeffrey Pardo reportedly dressed up as Santa Claus and opened fire at a Christmas Eve party being attended by his ex-wife, who is still missing. (So are her parents, who owned the house.) Police found six bodies in the house, which was set on fire during the attack. Three other people were injured. Pardo was later found at his brother's house, dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

The L.A. Times has a very detailed account. Apparently, an 8-year-old girl answered the door -- and Pardo shot her in the face. (Though it sounds like she made it to the hospital.) Pardo, an aerospace engineer who recently lost his job, reportedly used some kind of homemade device to spray a material used to spread the fire.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office says eight bodies have been found in the rubble of a home set ablaze after a Christmas Eve shooting massacre. Investigators ended their search Thursday night for other possible victims of the rampage. Authorities planned to return to the scene Friday.

A Los Angeles County coroner's official says a ninth body has been recovered from a home where a gunman shot up a Christmas Eve party and set the house ablaze.

Coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz says the ninth body was found Friday morning in the gutted structure.

All of the bodies recovered from the home were badly burned and none have been positively identified.

Residents of a Los Angeles suburb where a man dressed as Santa Claus shot dead at least nine people have spoken of their disbelief at the killings.

Another body was found on Friday in the ashes of a house in the suburb of Covina that was gutted by fire.

Bruce Pardo burst into a Christmas Eve party at his ex-wife's parents' home, shooting and then starting the fire.

He took his life with a single shot to the head at his brother's home about 25 miles (40km) away, police said.

A Los Angeles County coroner's official has now confirmed that a ninth body has been found - all of them badly burned and none as yet positively identified.

Local media have reported that Pardo's ex-wife and in-laws were among the dead but this has not been officially confirmed.

Covina police chief Kim Raney and Lt Pat Buchanan hold a news conference
One of Pardo's co-workers at a Catholic church, Jan Detanna, told the Whittier Daily News that the unemployed aerospace engineer was "the nicest guy" who "always had a smile".

Details have emerged that Pardo, 45, had reached a divorce settlement just a few days before the attack.

Court documents showed the two-year marriage ended with an award of $10,000 to Sylvia Pardo along with their dog and her wedding ring, while Bruce Pardo took the house.

Bruce Pardo's lawyer, Stanley Silver, told the Associated Press news agency his client had fallen behind on marital support when he lost his job in July.

Pardo had knocked on the door of the home just before midnight, shooting in the face an eight-year-old girl who answered the door, police said. She is being treated for her wounds.

He then sprayed the 25 guests with bullets before setting fire to the house with a home-made incendiary device.

LANCE ARMSTRONG and ANNA HANSEN Expecting a Baby together

NEW YORK (AP) — LANCE ARMSTRONG is going to be a father again.

LANCE ARMSTRONG, who won the Tour de France seven consecutive years after overcoming testicular cancer, is expecting a baby with girlfriend ANNA HANSEN.

"Anna and I are thrilled to confirm that we are expecting in June and our families are ecstatic and grateful," LANCE ARMSTRONG told The Associated Press on Tuesday night. "We are very much looking forward to what 2009 brings on many fronts. We appreciate respecting our privacy, as we are both eager to celebrate the holidays as a family."

Three years after retiring following his last Tour de France win, LANCE ARMSTRONG announced in September his return to competition and the Tour de France in 2009. He called his comeback an attempt to raise global awareness in his fight against cancer.

CNN first reported the news of LANCE ARMSTRONG's and ANNA HANSEN impending parenthood on its Web site Tuesday night.

Diagnosed in 1996 with testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs and brain, doctors gave LANCE ARMSTRONG less than a 50 percent chance of survival. Surgery and brutal cycles of chemotherapy saved his life.

LANCE ARMSTRONG and his former wife Kristin had three children using in vitro fertilization with sperm he had banked before his chemotherapy.

Cancer survivor and cycling phenom LANCE ARMSTRONG is expecting a baby with girlfriend ANNA HANSEN. Lance froze his sperm prior to receiving cancer treatment in 1996, and he has three other children with ex-wife Kristin, who conceived using those frozen swimmers and in vitro. This baby with Anna is the first he’s conceived naturally. (Lance clearly has super magic sperm!) ANNA HANSEN is due in June 2009, and the couple is said to be “thrilled.”

ANNA HANSEN Biography
ANNA HANSEN is a Colorado native, and she graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Biology. ANNA HANSEN is a Program Manager and Recruiter for First Descents, an organization that provides whitewater kayaking and other outdoor adventure experiences to promote emotional, psychological and physical healing for young adults with cancer. ANNA HANSEN has been a volunteer at the Children’s Hospital in Denver and serves on the board of directors of Camp Wapiyapi, a foundation providing support for families with childhood cancer. ANNA HANSEN is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys mountain biking and snowboarding.

ANNA HANSEN met LANCE ARMSTRONG through charity work, and they have been quietly dating since July 2008, shortly after his relationship with Kate Hudson ended. Their baby was unplanned (obviously), and indicates that after all these years, testicular cancer survivor Lance’s sperm are working again. This is rare and only happens to a small handful of survivors.

I haven't found any PICTURES OF ANNA HANSEN yet, but if she is attractive you will find the ANNA HANSEN PICTURE GALLERY at http://holamamasita.blogspot.com

BEAUTY QUEEN LAURA ZUNIGA ARRESTED

GUADALAJARA, Mexico (AP) — Laura Zúñiga, a reigning Mexican beauty queen from the drug-plagued state of Sinaloa was arrested with suspected gang members in a truck filled guns and ammunition, police say.

Miss Sinaloa 2008 Laura Zúñiga stared at the ground, with her flowing dark hair concealing her face, as she stood squeezed between seven alleged gunmen lined up before journalists. Soldiers wearing ski masks guarded the 23-year-old model and the suspects. Laura Zúñiga was arrested shortly before midnight on Monday at a military checkpoint in Zapopan, just outside the colonial city of Guadalajara, said Jalisco state police director, Francisco Alejandro Solorio.

Laura Zúñiga was riding in one of two trucks, where soldiers found a large stash of weapons, including two AR-15 assault rifles, .38 specials, 9mm handguns, nine magazines, 633 cartridges and $53,300 in U.S. currency, Solorio said Tuesday. State police identified one of the men caught with Laura Zúñiga as the brother of an alleged drug trafficker from Ciudad Juarez, a city on the U.S. border, and said the man appeared to have been her boyfriend. Laura Zúñiga told police that she was planning on traveling to Bolivia and Colombia with the men to go shopping, Solorio said.

When the former preschool teacher won Miss Sinaloa in July she gave an impassioned speech about how society should value women more, especially mothers. In October, Laura Zúñiga won the Hispanoamerican Queen beauty contest in October against competitors from across Latin America. Laura Zúñiga placed third in the Nuestra Belleza Mexico pageant in Monterrey in September. That pageant sends its winner to the Miss Universe contest. For placing third, Laura Zúñiga was expected to represent Mexico in the 2009 Miss International contest.

Laura Zúñiga is from the Pacific coast state of Sinaloa, the home of the powerful cartel of the same name. It was not immediately known whether Laura Zúñiga and the men were being investigated for drug ties.

Lupita Jones, the national director of Nuestra Belleza Mexico, released a statement distancing the organization from Laura Zúñiga. Jones also said Nuestra Belleza knew nothing about "any illicit activity in which she could be involved." The organization also says it will await the results of the investigation before making any decision about whether to strip Laura Zúñiga of her crown. "Since 1994, Nuestra Belleza has been a serious, honest and transparent organization dedicated exclusively to preparing Mexican women to successfully represent our country en various contests and whose object is to show the beauty, value and intelligence of each one of them," Jones said. Tatiana Limpias of Gloria promotions, which organizes the Hispanoamerican contest in Bolivia, told The Associated Press that their lawyers were also looking into the matter before making a decision about her crown.

About 90 percent of the cocaine entering the United States passes through Mexico, earning its powerful and vicious cartels billions of dollars a year and allowing them to corrupt the segments of society ranging from the police and army to musical groups.

CONTINENTAL AIRLINES FLIGHT 1404 Skids off Runway

Continental Airlines Inc. is looking into a weekend accident in which a flight bound for George Bush International Airport from Denver International Airport went off the runway.

The Houston airline’s flight 1404, a Boeing 737-500 aircraft carrying 110 passengers and five crew members, was unable to take off, ran off the runway and caught fire, according to news agencies. About 38 of those on board suffered injuries.

Continental (NYSE: CAL) is cooperating with authorities and is in the process of collecting additional information about the Saturday evening accident.

“The care of our passengers, crew and family members is our highest priority and they will receive any assistance necessary,” said Larry Kellner, Continental Airlines’ chairman and chief executive officer. “We are deeply concerned by this accident and will do everything we can for the passengers, their families and our co-workers.”

Relatives and friends of those traveling on flight 1404 who want to give or receive information about those on board should telephone Continental at 800-621-3263 or go to the airline’s Web site at www.continental.com.

Continental Flight 1404 was almost completely full, speeding down the runway, taking off for houston when something went wrong.

"The plane got really bumpy and I figured we're hitting the ground now," passenger Gabriel Trejos said.

The plane careened out of control, about 200 yards off the runway at Denver International Airport, coming to rest in a ravine. The landing gear sheered off and the plane was on fire.

"On my side of the plane, I could see the engine I noticed it was on fire I could feel the heat coming from the window," Gabriel said.

Trejos and his wife were sitting in Row 19 with their one-year-old son. Once the plane came to rest, passengers began panicking.

"We had another guy yelling the planes gonna blow up the planes gonna explode," Gabriel said.

"I can remember we were in the aisle, and I didn't want to leave my husband but I knew I had to get the baby off," Gabriel's wife Maria said.

110 passengers and five crews members escaped through emergency exits. Now federal investigators have the task of figuring out why the plane veered off the runway and caught fire.

Some of the passengers who survived Flight 1404 finally arrived in Houston on Sunday.

Music Downloaders can Relax as RIIA Backs off the court cases.

In a surprise about-face, the Recording Industry Association of America RIIA said Friday that it will no longer pursue its controversial legal strategy of filing large numbers of lawsuits against individuals for alleged MUSIC PIRACY. But the trade group isn't throwing in the towel on its antipiracy campaign. In a brief document explaining its decision, the RIAA said it now plans to work more closely with ISPs to identify alleged copyright infringers and try to persuade them to stop.

Under the so-called graduated response program, the RIAA would notify participating ISPs when it discovers customers of theirs that are engaging in what it claims are illegal downloading activities.

British Columbia Man ARRESTED FOR MOVIE PIRACY under DIGITAL COPYRITE ACT

ABBOTSFORD — Police have seized more than 700 ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED MOVIES from an Abbotsford home and charged a 27-year-old man under the Copyright Act. Police say the arrest Sunday followed a month-long investigation into allegations the man was selling PIRATED MOVIES out of his home.

A search of a property in the 32600-block Haida Drive uncovered hundreds of PIRATED MOVIES — including such titles as FOUR CHRISTMASES and TRANSPORTER 3 that are still playing in theatres. Two computers were also seized.

The man, who had no criminal record, was released on a promise to appear in court in February. Abbotsford police spokesman Const. Casey Vinet called MOVIE PIRACY and COUNTERFEITING "a growing international problem that results in loss to legitimate industry and the economy." He suggested consumers should watch for these telltale signs of PIRATED MOVIES: poor quality, lower-than-average prices, shoddy packaging or spelling mistakes, and products sold individually that are normally part of a package.

This follows a story a couple of weeks ago where an Alberta Man was charged with illegally video taping Sweeney Todd in a Calgary Theatre.

CALGARY - A man caught recording the movie Sweeney Todd in a Calgary theatre last year has become the first person convicted in Canada under new legislation against movie pirating.

Richard Craig Lissaman, 21, pleaded guilty on Friday to the unauthorized recording in December 2007 of the new release starring Johnny Depp, and was sentenced to $1,495 in fines and placed on probation for a year by provincial court Judge Catherine Skene. Lissaman is also prohibited from entering any movie theatre, or from purchasing, owning or taking any video recording equipment - including one on a cellphone - outside his home during his probation period.

Skene said if one compared Lissaman’s crime to shoplifting, it was not akin to someone stealing a loaf of bread or litre of milk for personal use, but akin to someone taking a cart of meat to be re-sold for profit. “You can say he and his pals will watch the movie, but he has an item that is more supportive of taking something to be used to make a profit,” said the judge. “It’s not a simple theft of an item for personal consumption.”

The conviction came as a relief to the motion-picture industry, which had lobbied for the legislation that came into effect on June 1, 2007, and had conducted a six-month investigation that led to Lissaman’s arrest. Before the Criminal Code amendment, the Crown had to prove a suspect was intending to distribute an illegally recorded film before action could be taken under copyright laws.

“Canada is a hotbed of movie pirating, which is a billion-dollar loss to the movie industry,” Mark Christiansen, executive vice-president of operations for Paramount Picture’s motion-picture distribution, said outside court after reading his victim-impact statement. “The perception is that Hollywood stars are the only ones hurt by this, but it affects everybody who works in theatres.”

Virginia Jones, director of policy and legal affairs for the Canadian Motion Picture Distributors Association, said the industry will continue to remain vigilant. “We would have liked to see jail time, sending a stronger message. We hope this is just a starting point,” she said outside court, also after delivering a victim-impact statement. “But under old copyright laws, it was difficult to prove what had occurred.” She said all movies are distinctly watermarked, which means legal or illegal copies can be traced back to a specific theatre. That led to the lengthy surveillance.

Crown prosecutor Rob Bassett, who had sought a fine of about $2,000, said Lissaman smuggled a camcorder into a theatre during a matinee showing of Sweeney Todd on Dec. 21, the film’s opening day. “He was sitting in the top left corner of the theatre with the camera hidden in a sock, with duct tape over the red recording light to avoid detection,” said Bassett. “The house lights were turned on and the movie was shut off and Calgary police arrested him. The accused (later) admitted he had recorded the picture.”

Defence lawyer Steven Jenuth, who sought a fine in unspecified hundreds of dollars, told the judge it appears to be a one-time event for his client, with no evidence of any other offences and no evidence of any sales or recordings. “He is not, despite the allegations, charged with distribution or even copying that movie.” However, Jones and Christiansen said in their statements to the court a single copy of a movie made in a Canadian theatre can be used to distribute both unlimited numbers of DVDs that are shipped around the world via the Internet or other means for distribution.
