Mary Kate Olsen refusing to cooperate in investigation into Heath Ledger's Death

What does Mary-Kate Olsen know about Heath Ledger's drug use? And why won't she talk to DEA investigators about it?

Olsen has reportedly refused to be interviewed by federal investigators from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency who are probing Heath Ledger's accidental drug-related death.

She won't talk unless she receives immunity from prosecution, which is her constitutional right.

But why does she need immunity?

The New York Post is reporting that MK's lawyer, Michael Miller, has repeatedly rebuffed the feds' attempts to talk to Olsen, who was called by her masseuse after the woman discovered Ledger's unresponsive body in his SoHo apartment in January 2008.

Asked whether he asked for immunity for his client, Mary-Kate Olsen's lawyer told the Post, "We are not going to comment on whether there is a criminal investigation," and declined to speak further.

OK, but ... the feds could force her to talk anyway.

Frustrated federal officials could get a grand jury subpoena to compel MK to spill secrets about Heath, his drug use and possible drug sources.

Everyone involved with Ledger — doctors, the masseuse, bodyguards, housekeepers, even Michelle Williams, the mother of his baby daughter, Matilda — has already cooperated and been questioned.

Olsen is reportedly the last witness needed to conclude the investigation into where Heath got the drugs and medicines that caused his accidental death.

The cause of death was determined to be an overdose of sleep-aid medications, prescribed by two doctors, and of a powerful painkiller, OxyContin, from an unknown source.

Investigators want to find out where Heath got the OxyContin.

NYPD investigators closed their probe earlier this year without interviewing Olsen, a decision that caused a lot of raised eyebrows, given her friendship with Heath and their shared partying habits.

Maybe Mary-Kate can help get to the bottom of this. Maybe not. But shouldn't she try?

What do you think?

Heath Ledgers' Will has caused a split in his family - Heaths' last movie to continue production

An ugly family row has broken out over the will of Hollywood actor Heath Ledger, who died from a drug overdose in New York in January.

The late actor's father has called on his estranged brothers to stop commenting publicly on how Ledger's fortune will be divided up.

Ledger's uncles have claimed that his two-year-old daughter, Matilda, and her mother, actress Michelle Williams, 27, will not get a share of the estate because the Brokeback Mountain star left all his money to his parents and sisters.

The two uncles, Mike and Haydn Ledger, said Matilda was not included in the will because it was written before her birth and not updated.

"I'm concerned for Matilda," said one of the uncles, Hadyn Ledger. "I have concerns about the distribution of funds."

But the actor's father, Kim, dismissed those claims. "Matilda is our absolute priority, and Michelle is an integral part of our family. They will be taken care of and that's how Heath would want it to be."

Kim Ledger, who was in Los Angeles, however called on his siblings not to air the family's dirty laundry in public.

"It is sad at this extremely difficult time in our lives, while we are grieving the loss of our beloved son that estranged family members publicly discuss matters they have not been privy to in the past or now," he said. "We hope for Matilda's sake they will remain dignified."

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that Ledger's last film, a fantasy directed by former Python Terry Gilliam, is to go ahead with Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law sharing duties as the late actor's replacements.

Ledger was part-way through completing The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus with Gilliam when he died from a lethal mixture of prescription drugs in New York on January 22.

Gilliam said in a statement: "I am grateful to Johnny, Colin and Jude for coming on board and to everyone else who has made it possible for us to finish the film.

"I am delighted that Heath's brilliant performance can be shared with the world.

"We are looking forward to finishing the movie and, through the film, with a modicum of humility, being able to touch people's hearts and souls as Heath was able to do."

The film's producers said that they had the blessing of Ledger's family to go ahead with the project. Filming has resumed in Vancouver, Canada, and the movie is likely to be released early next year.

Ledger gained international stardom with his Oscar-nominated performance as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain.

Director talks about Ledger's final film - Batman

SYDNEY - Heath Ledger had a unique charisma that affected everyone on the set of his final film, The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan says in a written tribute to the Australian actor.

Nolan, the director of the yet-to-be released Batman movie The Dark Knight, has told of working with Ledger, describing him as a thoughtful and creative actor.

Ledger plays a psychotic, mass murdering, skateboarding Joker in the film, which will be released in July and is already received rave reviews.

Nolan said Ledger's charisma was so catching that younger people working on the set would turn up on skateboards.

"I'd fretted about the reaction of Batman fans to a skateboarding Joker, but the actual result was a proliferation of skateboards among the younger crew members," Nolan told US magazine Newsweek.

"If you'd asked those kids why they had chosen to bring their boards to work, they would have answered honestly that they didn't know.

"That's real charisma invisible and natural as gravity. That's what Heath had."

Nolan also told of Ledger's thoughtfulness, saying that after asking everyone on the film set to stay back one night, he quietly thanked each crew member.

"Everyone seemed to understand that Heath had something special and that we had to capture it before it disappeared," Nolan said.

He described two short films that Heath had made as "exciting and haunting".

"I've never felt as old as I did watching Heath explore his talents.

"Heath was bursting with creativity."

Nolan said he had been looking forward to the day when he'd show Ledger the finished film.

"Now that screening will never be real," he said.

"I see him every day in my edit suite.

"I study his face, his voice. And I miss him terribly."

Private Memorial for Heath Ledger - Guest included Tom Cruise, Ben Harper...

A host of A-list stars yesterday held a private memorial service for actor Heath Ledger, whose mysterious death nearly two weeks ago shocked Hollywood.

Led by megastar Tom Cruise, his wife Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller and Ellen DeGeneres, the stars paid tribute to the 28-year-old Oscar nominee on the lot of Sony studios in Los Angeles, celebrity magazine People said.

Director Todd Haynes, who directed Ledger in I'm Not There, spoke at the ceremony and singer Ben Harper performed.

Ledger's ex, actress Michelle Williams was not at the memorial service but realeased a statement on Saturday saying "My heart is broken".

In her first statement since the death of her former companion Ledger, Williams asked for privacy for her and daughter Matilda.

"Please respect our need to grieve privately," Williams said in a statement released by Ledger's spokeswoman. "My heart is broken."

Williams, 27, and Ledger, an Australian actor, met on the set of the 2005 movie "Brokeback Mountain," fell in love and had Matilda, who is now 2 years old. They split up in September. "I am the mother of the most tender-hearted, high-spirited, beautiful little girl who is the spitting image of her father," Williams said in her statement.

"All that I can cling to is his presence inside her that reveals itself every day. His family and I watch Matilda as she whispers to trees, hugs animals, and takes steps two at a time and we know that he is with us still. She will be brought up with the best memories of him."

Ledger, 28, and Williams lived together in New York and there was speculation they planned to marry, although they never officially confirmed an engagement.

Ledger was found dead in his bed on January 22 in his New York apartment with sleeping pills and prescription drugs nearby, police said. The cause of death has yet to be determined but an official with the New York Medical Examiner's office said autopsy results were due Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest.

The actor's body has been flown home to Australia where his family is arranging a private funeral and memorial.

Ledger's spokeswoman told Reuters that if a public service is held, the family would share those arrangements. Williams' whereabouts were not disclosed.

In recent days, several celebrity magazines have cited unnamed sources as saying Ledger was using drugs including cocaine, and his party lifestyle caused the breakup with Williams but none of those reports could be confirmed.

Heath Ledger Drug Video - What's the big deal?

Further examination indicates this video was taken back in 2006. People seem to be making such a big deal about this, so the guy snorted blow in his early days. Toxicology has ruled drugs out of his death so why bring up the past now when it has no relivance. So what do you think? any comments on this whole fiasco? Should people be shown this video or should Heath be left to rest in piece?

At least Entertainment tonight had the good graces to edit the footage out of respect for the family.
