Autopsy Completed on San Diego Hiker Ric CeVan found in Sierra Nevada

An autopsy has concluded that a San Diego hiker whose body was recovered from the eastern Sierra Nevada near Bishop died of "multiple traumatic injuries."

The Inyo County coroner's office released the autopsy results Thursday.

The body of 44-year-old Ric DeVan was recovered Wednesday in a mountain pass at an elevation of about 12,000 feet.

DeVan was last seen on July 4.

A backpack that family members said belonged to DeVan was found about 400 feet downhill.

DeVan's family described him as a very experienced climber and mountaineer.
