Any romantic appearance of Pirates, as sold by Johnny Depp has been replaced with murder off the coast of Africa as Somali Pirates seized control of yet another cargo ship off the coast of Seychelles on Thursday. According to the European Union Naval Force, this is the second of two attacks that took place within minutes of each other off the coast of east Africa.
The International Maritime Bureau reports attacks off the east coast of Africa have increased this year. Along with the Seychelles Coast Guard, the EU maritime patrol responded to the early morning Somali Pirate attacks. Before their communication had been cut off, the crew of the Panama ship MV Al Khaliq said two Somali pirates had boarded their ship. The EU Maritime Patrol has since confirmed six pirates have boarded the 180-meter long ship.
