Bahamas police charge lawmaker in Travolta extortion plot: Authorities in the Bahamas have charged an island lawmaker and detained two other people in an alleged plot to extort money from actor John Travolta after the death of his son, police said Friday. Authorities did not reveal what the alleged extortion involved.

Police in the Bahamas have detained a Bahamian lawmaker and a paramedic in connection with an alleged plot to extort money from actor John Travolta.

Few details were available, but officials told the Associated Press that the lawmaker, Pleasant Bridgewater, has been held since Thursday in the case. A second suspect, ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne, was detained yesterday.
